sound familiar?

The blank screen isn’t a discipline problem.

You pour everything into running your business. Then it’s time to post, and the cursor just… blinks. If any of these live in your head, you’re exactly who this was built for:

“I don’t have a plan.”

You post when inspiration strikes — then feel guilty when it doesn’t. Every post starts from zero.

“It feels like bragging.”

Promoting a company? Fine. Promoting yourself? Cringe. You hover over the button… and delete the draft.

“Is this even working?”

Likes come and go, but you honestly couldn’t say whether any of it brings you business.

this isn’t guru advice

I spent a year researching exactly this.

My 2026 Texas Tech graduate study surveyed 66 business users of social media — and solo owners told a different story than everyone else.

18%post with a clear strategy tied to goals. Everyone else is winging it.
34%of independent professionals find self-promotion uncomfortable — against 13% of everyone else.
#1most-wanted resource: a way to know whether the effort is actually working.
what you leave with

Not notes. Finished things.

  • Your compass, on one pageFour things that are true about you and nobody else — and one sentence that holds all four. No more borrowing someone else’s voice.
  • One real person to write toBuilt from clients you’ve actually had, not a demographic you invented. Suddenly you know what to say.
  • A month of content, already madeWe batch it together in a co-working session, using a two-hour workflow you’ll reuse every month.
  • Two numbers and a twenty-minute checkThe end of “I have no idea if this is working.”

“This course was exactly what I needed exactly when I needed it! Going from a corporate job to juggling all of these new goals and dreams comes with a lot of risk and unknowns. This knowledge was a missing component. I have all of the separate skills and experience to make great consistent content. I just didn’t have the experience of strategically connecting them and determining how they all fit together.”

Mary Moore, founder of Make Words Do Things
hi, I’m Mary

Twenty years of making words do things.

I’ve spent 20+ years in hospitality sales, advertising, digital marketing, and PR — and in 2026 I finished my master’s at Texas Tech, where my research asked one question: why do smart, capable solo business owners go quiet online?

The answer wasn’t “post more.” It was not knowing what to say, discomfort with self-promotion, and no way to tell whether any of it was worth the time. This program is what I built out of that research — and if I’m not the right fit for what you need, I’ll be the first to tell you.

FAQ

I work full-time. What’s the real time commitment?

About 7 live hours across four weeks — five sessions, all on weeknights at 6:30 p.m. Central. Homework runs about twenty minutes a week. There’s one optional two-hour co-working block on a Saturday morning, and it’s designed to save you time: you leave it with a month of content done.

What if I can’t make a live session?

Recordings post within 24 hours and the workbooks are built to work on your own. That said, the working blocks are where most of the value lives — if you have to miss one, watch the recording and do the pages before the next session.

Is this a personal branding course?

Not in the way that phrase usually means. There’s no advice here about becoming a thought leader or growing an audience for its own sake. It’s about getting clear enough on what you do and who you do it for that posting stops feeling like a performance.

I hate self-promotion. Is this going to make me do that?

In my research, 34% of independent professionals said self-promotion feels uncomfortable, against 13% of everyone else — so if that’s you, you’re the norm, not the exception. Of the fifteen ways to frame a post that you’ll learn, exactly one is promotional. There are fourteen other doors.

Do I need a big following? What if I’m barely posting at all?

No, and you’re actually the ideal member. Everything here is built from what you already have — your past clients, your own words, and a small number of people who genuinely need what you do. Starting with a plan means you never build habits you’ll have to unlearn.

What if my business is brand new and I don’t have clients yet?

You can still do this — tell me when you sign up and I’ll give you the alternate on-ramp. Where others use their client roster, you’ll use people you’ve helped informally, colleagues who came to you repeatedly for the same thing, and the person you were before you learned to solve this problem.

What happens after the four weeks?

You keep everything for life, your founding price is locked for future cohorts, and founding members get free access to the on-demand version when it launches.
