Hi, I’m Mary. Welcome to Make Words Do Things.

Hi, welcome to my little corner of the internet. However you happened to find your way here, I’m so glad to have you!

Since you are here, we’re obviously already best friends but just to keep it official let me introduce myself. I’m Mary, Mary Margaret to my family but hearing my full name still makes me feel like I’m about to get in trouble, so the rest of the world just calls me Mary.

I’m a native Texas girl; born in Houston and spent my childhood in Midland and Austin. I came to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University and I’ve been here ever since. Turns out, the West Texas wide open spaces and sunsets that can only be designed by God himself speak to my soul so I’m right where I should be.

I’m a dog mom to a beautiful Weimaraner named Goose (4) and a gorgeous black Lab named Stage (8). For a fun plot twist in my story, we were recently adopted by three kittens so I guess I’m a cat mom now too. It’s a zoo over here but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Now, when I was a kid I legit wanted to grow up to be Wonder Woman. My invisible plane never did arrive so I resigned myself to my real superpower — WORDS. I drove my teachers crazy with my gift of gab to the point that I may or may not have had a desk alone in the corner of a classroom from time to time. Communicating for a living was obviously my destiny.

I totally still talk too much but whether preordained destiny or self-fulfilling prophecy, I’ve carved out a way to make words for a living.

Over the past 20 years I have had the opportunity to work in hospitality sales, advertising, digital marketing and PR for a wide variety of clients and industries. Interestingly, the projects, client work and accomplishments I am most proud of all share an important common thread. In every one of those chapters, I was directly serving people.

That particular ah-ha moment was the nugget that became Make Words Do Things. Over the years, I have seen many entrepreneurs, creators and community leaders go all in on big ideas with the very best of intentions only to fall short of their big audacious goal because of something that intentional communication, strategic planning or support from a think-tank could have solved.

That is the very thing you find yourself browsing today. The mission for Make Words Do Things is pretty simple. It is also the true north for everything I will share with you.

Here, we will fuel your journey with support, inspiration, community and innovation.

Under the big umbrellas of social media, personal and business branding and leadership development, we will serve you with lots of different tools. Want to know the big huge difference from some others out there?

We serve first, sell second.

Let me say it again for the people in the back. WE SERVE FIRST. My promise to anyone who trusts #MWDT to join their journey is that we will always seek to serve you well before we EVER seek to sell a product, course or Mastermind ticket. Be assured that this is the core of the #MWDT brand.

On to the exciting new stuff! Here’s what’s coming up…

In February, everyone connected with us at #MWDT will have an exciting opportunity to learn from some of the very best on the planet when it comes to leadership and crushing massive goals. You’ll get to see for yourselves the people and tools that changed my life.

Beginning in March, you’ll be invited to join me in a 4-week series of e-lunch sessions where we’ll dig deep on solutions to things like:

  • I know I need to post on social media, but I have no idea what to say!
  • Should I be posting on my personal social or business social pages? Or both? And how often? Should I post the same content on Facebook and Instagram?
  • I’m putting out content but no one seems to care. I don’t get much engagement and my audience size is flat.

In April, a limited number of spots will open for my Branding WordShop Mastermind. Potentially a joint virtual and in-person event, this 4-part WordShop Mastermind is designed to bring people together to:

  • Define and align personal and professional brands (redefine in some cases).
  • Map actionable (SMART) steps to (re)introduce the brand to different potential audiences.
  • Spend intentional time on personal growth to develop as individual leaders while gaining even more insight by doing it in a group setting.
  • Leverage the collective expertise in the room to unpack, brainstorm and ideally resolve each attendee’s biggest obstacle, worry or question.

Keynote addresses, virtual retreats, training videos and online courses are coming your way through 2020 and beyond. Together we are building a community alive with tips, tools and tricks for next-level social media content, inspiration and encouragement, out-of-the-box solutions for common problems and most of all massive momentum to accomplish our biggest dreams.

It just doesn’t get better than finding and using your superpower. I think Wonder Woman would be proud.
